zips and stuff

Sometimes it really pays off to have your three children turn really feral when you are shopping with them!!!! After taking them to the pet shop to get some rabbit food and then to the charity shop so I could scrounge around and I only found one piece of fabric to buy for 50 cents. I then took them to this sportshop that has been closing down forever. The owner is selling fabric really cheap, cottons and other notions. I have bought lots of stuff from him before and lots of zips that he sells to me for 50 cents each. I had three "helpers" trying to sort out zips for me and I don't know how many times I tried to count to 40 before losing count or other zips were added to the pile!! The owners wife came over to chat a bit and this is when the kids turned yuk...putting piles of zips on their heads and throwing them around! Calmly but sternly "Right that is IT!! Put them ALL in the box NOW!!!" The owners wife left me to deal with the kids....Still angry i walked up to the owner and said "Can you give me a deal on this box of zips?" He said "How much do you want to give me?"...Now I only wanted to spend $20 that was why I had been counting to 40 so many times!! I said "$20"...he ummmed and said "OK"....YES of course I counted them ALL when I got home......146.

Then I started on these...my "shabby chic" pouches...with zips and many are tough metal ones. Anyone fancy one?? As I am not going to do the markets this year at least I will have a supply of "gifts".

And my effort with Sara's painting!! Needs a bit of touching up on my side. But knowing that we both did half of it I feel that it "goes".

Oh and HAPPY AUSTRALIA day for yesterday!! We had a nice relaxing day and then spent the afternoon/evening with two other Swiss/Australian familes. And finished the night watching the very short display of fireworks!!

I hope a certain sports shop owner doesn't read blogs!!

...and you'd only been training them for how many weeks? Well done!

It's so nice to know it's not only my kids that go feral...lol. Athought today it wasn't throwing zips - it was critizing each other at the top of their voices the whole time we were down the street. Why did I become a Mum?

I think your part of the painting complements Sara's part very well.

Those shabby chic pouches are very pretty. I'm sure they would sell so well if you ever wanted to put up a stall again.

Glad you had a good Australia Day!

The painting looks so fabulous! Love it.
Good deal on the zips - although I couldn't think of anything worse *lol* I hate putting zips in! And the pouches are very cute too...

I've been reading your blogs over the last 6 weeks once Mum told me they existed. All I wonder is -Where on earth do you find the time????

Love Rells

PS - got any appropriately sized travel shabby chic pouches?

PPS- I'm getting pressure from your sister to create a blog myself, but why do that when I can read everyone elses?!

To Anonymous (Rells) - if you start a blog then we'll know what's going on in your world, too.

What a great deal on those zips. I'm always happy to score a bargain.
Cute purses.

I need to go shopping for bargains. Can I borrow your kids? Great story and what a bargain :) Your crafts are great. Are you too busy studying to do the markets this year? I guess kids, a husband, etc. plus studying is enough to keep you busy, to say the least :) Love your writing and your post subjects are always entertaining (funny) :) You take after your mum!
