February 14th!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

Yes...here I am, always the one to put a dampener on days like this!! You see only because I am one of many poor Florists (yes one of those who in a past life worked with flowers and therefore like many before me, are called twice a year to "help out")....so here I am while others are sipping champagne and gazing at their beloved, I am sitting next to mine and we are typing away on our computers. Only thing is my fingers are swollen, green, dry, scratched, very very sore and full of thorns!! A day working from 9.30am until 1.00am will do that to your hands...not to mention how the rest of me feels!! Yes, after many years working for this "Special Day"...I am pretty much Anti Valentines Day!! I have no desire to be anyone's Valentine today....I look like crap!! Yet any other day of the year I would really welcome the bouquet of flowers, the soppy card, the chocolates, the dinner and the......rest!!! Just not on the same day as everyone else!!!

Still I do hope today, you were all treated as you wish to be, by your Valentine....and if not today at least one day soon!!

I love you, darling - and doesn't that Swiss husband of your celebrate Valentine's Day, or just not in Australia?

Well, yes, I'm hoping for the 'one day soon'!

We generally do something vaguely around Valentine's Day (can't stand the idea of going out and seeing a gazillion other couples looking soppy and sheepish!)but this year dinner was not so romantic. So now I'm convinced I deserve some flowers. Soon. (did someone just call me a princess?)

I picked roses from the garden and cooked his favourite meal, which we enjoyed at home with a bottle of vintage red. And then I went out to my meditation circle! But he did the dishes for me which was just lovely.

Been there, done that. Having a customer ring you up and abuse you for not delivering his flowers at precisely 9 am sort of takes the gloss of St V's day. No wonder I quit being a florist all those years ago. We don't celebrate Valentines day either. A couple of emailed cards to each other (yeah romantic I know) and that's it.
Hope today is a relaxing one for you.

I hope you have recovered...I suggest that the 15th Feb. should be declared international florist´s day!

I think a card is nice....I never expected flowers or candy, but I usually got them.....I still have a little bear that came with the flowers with hearts on it.....i treasure it, because my hubby sent it to me......I have several cards that he sent me, and now I treasure them......I have always told my kids, that it is important to give a card, whether they make it or buy it....but that shows love......and thats all i needed... I'm sorry you had a bad day....I worked at a nursery and I know how crazy it got on valentines day, or easter....and all the men seem to come in on there way home from work....no planning, just what ever you have left......i hated that......thats why a card is nice.......
