gym pressure

Well this morning i rock up to the Gym i have joined all excited to be starting my new fitness regime. It was to be a introduction to all the machinery that will turn me gorgeous!! I rock up wearing my new runners, new track pants and very old t-shirt as I hate the totally "new outfit look". Anyway I have to fill in the health check sheet to which I answer No, No, No and No to all the "have you ever suffered....." questions. The gorgeous young girl them takes my blood pressure and tells me I have high blood pressure so I wont be actually able to use the equipment but she will show me anyway!! She asks if I am nervous - "well maybe a little" and asks if I have had coffee "Of course!". Anyway I feel like a complete idiot learning about all the new "gorgeous making machines" while standing next to them! I finish my "tour" and she tells me to sit down and she will take my BP again. I tell her "Well of course it will be higher because you have worried the crap out of me!" and it is - 160 over 80!!! She then asks what I am doing this time tomorrow - "Oh I'll probably be in the Cardiac Unit, why?". She wants me to come back tomorrow and have someone else take my BP. Now I to say I have NEVER had high blood pressure before - pregnacies and all it has always been Joe Blow Average!!! So I didn't come home from the gym gorgeous - I came home pissed off, old and not gorgeous!!!

So this afternoon I went over to some married friends who are both nurses and had them play doctors and nurses on me - turns out it is a bit high - so I guess I had better get it checked out!! And really just when I was all calm with exams over and hubby back and all of that - shit I hate to think what it was last week!!!! Think I'll go and have some more Red Wine -that is good for the heart!!

Aw, Shelly - that sucks. Hopefully it will settle down with some simple changes.

It's been so long since I went to a gym - I didn't realise they checked you out so thoroughly these days!

Hope the blodd pressure is easily managed and yes, enjoy the red wine with impunity!

bother: 'blood' not blodd. Maybe I'm channelling my welsh forebears...

How annoying - it is impossible to get me to a Gym, so if I ever eventually go, and someone 'has a go' ( in my eyes ), that's it, gym-over, seeya later, going home.

For red wine. yes.

I think going to a gym would raise my blood pressure too :0

Seriously, I hope everything's okay with you.

Lordy!! Isn't exercise one of the ways to lower blood pressure??! Presumably you won't over stretch yourself on your first day while learning about the gorgeous-making machines. What stuff and nonsense gyms go on with these days!!!
One near me wouldn't let me join while I was breastfeeding Miss N ... something about stretchy tissue, blah blah. I would think my stretchy tissue if my concern and not theirs.
Good luck getting that blood pressue down! I think mine just went up ;)

Gosh, what kind of a gym did you go to - a department of Defence one? All I had to do to join up was flash my credit card and promise to pay them without fail and snap! I was in!
