Anyone fancy helping me unpack the wet tent out of my car that has been there since yesterday morning??.......what might happen to it if I wait until hubby returns in two weeks?
Crappy weather but let me tell you how good it feels to have survived and enjoyed a camping trip without my husband. Now that sounds wrong - I love him and camping with him. However the feeling of accomplishment by going camping with the 3 kids, without his help is wonderful!! I can do it!! Drive 3 hours in rain and fog down a horrible mountain -yes there were many times I wanted to turn back but there was always hope that the weather would get better- it didn't. Well not until much later - and then can you imagine the mud!! Still the kids had an absolute ball playing with the other kids. I did go with other friends - you didn't think I would go totally on my own, that would have been crazy!! The other Mum who went sans husband feels the same -fantastic!

This post reminds me of 'I am woman, hear me roar!'. Good on you Shelly - you're a brave and gutsy woman.
Glad to hear you managed to have fun in spite of the weather!
Not sure what might happen to the tent if left for two weeks, just as I'm not sure what might happen to you when your brother returns in a year's time to reclaim his tent, if you don't take it out now!
I wasn't worried about you surviving the camping in the rain, just driving up and down Clyde Mountain in the rain. Thankfully you made it safely, and had a good weekend as well.
You have guts of steel - good on you! And the Clyde mountain road - been down that a few times - but not without husband and with kids and pouring with rain! You can do practically anything you need to now Shelly!
I was thinking it was Brown Mountain (?) which used to put the fear of God into me. But when Fixit and I last drove it it had been upgraded and he was sooo frustrated to be in a car instead of zipping down it on his motorbike! I used to regularly drive between Canberra and Wollongong over the Macquarie Pass and it took a long time to stop feeling nervous.
You and the other Mum are champions. Now go unpack the wet tent...
